Guile and Outlook Calendar

Primary-calendar events and attendees from Microsoft 365.

What Guile reads from Outlook Calendar

Guile reads your calendar's events from the past year and the next two years (titles, times, places, who is invited and how they replied, meeting links and a short preview of each description) and checks again every night. Microsoft's screen says the app can also change your calendar. Guile never does: it only reads.

How to connect Outlook Calendar

  1. In Guile, open Apps > Add an app and choose Connect on Outlook Calendar. To keep it to yourself, open Settings > Apps instead.
  2. In the Pipedream window (the service Guile uses to connect apps), sign in with your Microsoft account. Microsoft's screen names Pipedream, not Guile; that is expected.
  3. Read Permissions requested and choose Accept.
  4. Back in Guile, the calendar starts learning from your events of the past year and the next two years. To learn only from chosen events, choose Choose sources.

If you see Need admin approval: your company only lets admins approve apps. If the screen says Approval required, type a short reason and choose Request approval; otherwise send this page to your Microsoft 365 admin, who signs in once, ticks Consent on behalf of your organization and chooses Accept.

If something doesn't work

  • Your admin approved but you still see Need admin approval: they chose Accept without ticking Consent on behalf of your organization, which approves only their own account.
  • An event is missing: Guile reads only your main calendar, from one year back to two years ahead, and skips cancelled events.
