Projects and tasks

Guile and Linear

Issues and projects, read-only: what is open, overdue and due soon, and what the issues and their comments say.

What Guile reads from Linear

Guile reads issues (their descriptions, comments, statuses, assignees and due dates), projects, project updates and documents, in the teams you are in. Linear's page also asks for permission to create and change issues, comments and projects. Guile never does: it only reads.

How to connect Linear

  1. In Guile, open Apps, choose Linear and click Connect.
  2. A secure window from Pipedream (the service Guile uses to connect apps) opens and takes you to Linear. Log in if Linear asks.
  3. If you belong to more than one Linear workspace, pick your company's.
  4. Click Authorize. The page may name Pipedream rather than Guile: that is expected.
  5. If Linear asks you to request approval, send the request, then connect again once an admin approves it.

If something doesn't work

  • Waiting for approval. Linear sends your admins an email and a notification with a link to approve. The app may be listed as Pipedream.
  • The request was turned down. Linear shows you the admin's reason. Talk to them, then try again.
  • Teams are missing. Guile sees only teams you are in. Join the team, or have someone in it connect.
