Guile and Google Calendar

Primary-calendar event titles, times, descriptions, and attendees.

What Guile reads from Google Calendar

Guile reads the events on your main calendar (titles, times, places, who is invited and how they replied, Meet links and descriptions) and checks again every night. Google's screen may say the app can also view and edit events on all your calendars. Guile never does: it only reads.

How to connect Google Calendar

  1. In Guile, open Apps > Add an app and choose Connect on Google Calendar. To keep it to yourself, open Settings > Apps instead.
  2. In the Pipedream window (the service Guile uses to connect apps), continue to Google and choose your account.
  3. Google's screen names Pipedream, not Guile; that is expected. Leave every permission ticked and choose Continue.
  4. Back in Guile, the calendar starts learning from every event on your main calendar. To learn only from chosen events, choose Choose sources.

If something doesn't work

  • Google says your administrator blocks the app: a Google Workspace admin opens Security > Access and data control > API controls > Manage App Access and sets the app to Trusted.
  • An event is missing: Guile reads only your main calendar, not shared or team calendars, and skips cancelled events.
  • A repeating meeting appears once: Guile reads a series as one event, dated by its first occurrence.
