Support and shared inboxes

Guile and Help Scout

Support conversations, with replies and internal notes, and who is waiting on a reply, read-only.

What Guile reads from Help Scout

Guile reads your conversations (customer messages, your team's replies and internal notes) plus the names of the customers and organizations they're about. Help Scout gives a connected app the same access you have, including replying and deleting. Guile never does: it only reads.

How to connect Help Scout

  1. In Guile, open Apps and choose Help Scout.
  2. Click Connect. A secure window opens from Pipedream, the service Guile uses to connect apps.
  3. Sign in to Help Scout if it asks you to.
  4. Read what Help Scout shows and click Authorize. Guile never sees your password.

If something doesn't work

  • On the Free plan, the connection is refused. Move to Standard, Plus or Pro, then connect again.
  • Some inboxes are missing: connect again as someone who can open those inboxes.
  • If the person who connected leaves your Help Scout account, the connection stops. Connect again as someone who is still active.
