Guile and Stripe
Customers, invoices, payments, refunds and subscriptions, read-only, for the group you choose.
What Guile reads from Stripe
Guile reads your customers, invoices, payments, refunds, subscriptions, products, prices and coupons, and only people in the group you chose see them. The key you create can only read, so it cannot change anything in your Stripe account.
How to connect Stripe
- In Stripe, open the API keys page (dashboard.stripe.com/apikeys) in live mode and choose Create restricted key. A key is a code that lets Guile read your Stripe account.
- Choose Providing this key to another website and Continue, then enter "Guile" and "https://goguile.com" as the name and website.
- Choose Customize permissions for this key. Set Customers, Charges and Refunds, Products, Events, Invoices, Prices, Subscriptions and Coupons to Read, and leave everything else at None.
- Choose Create key, enter the code Stripe sends you, and copy the key. It starts with
rk_live_, and Stripe shows it only once. - In Guile, open Apps > Add an app, keep Who at your company can see this account? on your restricted group (for example Only Finance), and choose Connect on Stripe.
- In the Pipedream window (the service Guile uses to connect apps), paste the key and choose Save. Guile never sees the key.
If something doesn't work
- Never paste your secret key (it starts with
sk_live_): it can do anything in Stripe. If you did, choose Disconnect in Guile and connect again with the restricted key from step 4. - Guile shows only test data: the key was made in a sandbox (it starts with
rk_test_). Make it again in live mode. - Guile says a permission is missing: in Stripe, open the key's ⋯ menu, choose Edit key and set that item to Read.
- Pipedream says the key is wrong: copy it again with no spaces. If you lost it, make a new one, since Stripe shows it only once.
