Money

Guile and Harvest

Clients, invoices and payments, project budgets, work not billed yet, and hours logged, read-only, for the group you choose.

What Guile reads from Harvest

Guile reads your Harvest clients and contacts, projects and budgets, invoices and payments, and logged hours as daily totals per project and person. Money and time information stays in the restricted group you chose: only people in that group see it. Guile never stores anyone's pay rates. Harvest's sign-in screen gives Guile the same access you have, including changes. Guile never makes any: it only reads.

How to connect Harvest

  1. In Guile, open Apps and choose Harvest.
  2. Under Who at your company can see this account?, choose the group that should see money and time information (for example Only Finance).
  3. Click Connect, then sign in to Harvest in the secure window from Pipedream (the service Guile uses to connect apps).
  4. If you have several Harvest accounts, click Choose specific accounts and keep only the one Guile should read.
  5. Read Harvest's screen. It gives the app everything your role can do, including changing and deleting time entries and invoices. Guile never does: it only reads.
  6. Click Authorize application.

If something doesn't work

  • Guile warns the connection is partial, or shows only your own hours: you connected without the Administrator role. Ask an Administrator to connect, or to change your role in Harvest under Team > Actions > Edit > Permissions.
  • Guile is reading the wrong Harvest account: remove the connection and connect again, keeping only the right account.
  • A deleted time entry or invoice still shows: Harvest doesn't announce deletions, so Guile catches them on its regular full check (daily for recent hours, weekly for invoices).
  • A teammate can't see Harvest answers: that's by design. Only the group you chose sees the money and time information.
