Guile and QuickBooks Online

Customers, invoices, payments and estimates, read-only, for the group you choose.

What Guile reads from QuickBooks Online

Guile reads your customers, invoices, payments and estimates to answer questions about what clients owe and have paid. QuickBooks stays in a restricted group by default: only people in the group you picked can see this money information. QuickBooks' sign-in screen says Guile could also make changes to your books. Guile never does: it only reads.

How to connect QuickBooks Online

  1. In Guile, open Apps and find QuickBooks.
  2. Under Who at your company can see this account?, keep the restricted group Guile suggests, or pick another.
  3. Click Connect. A secure window opens from Pipedream, the service Guile uses to connect apps.
  4. Sign in to QuickBooks and, if you have more than one company, pick the right one.
  5. Read what QuickBooks shows and click Connect. Guile never sees your password.
  6. If Guile asks for your Company ID: in QuickBooks, go to Settings > Additional info, copy the Company ID and paste it into Guile.

If something doesn't work

  • QuickBooks won't let you connect: only the primary admin or a Company admin can. Ask one of them to connect, or to make you a Company admin.
  • The connection stops later: QuickBooks ends it if the admin who connected loses admin rights or leaves. Another admin can connect again.
  • Your Company ID is refused: paste only the numbers, with no spaces. You can also see it by pressing Ctrl + Alt + ? (Windows) or Control + Option + ? (Mac) in QuickBooks.
