Guile and FreshBooks

Clients, invoices, payments and estimates, read-only, for the group you choose.

What Guile reads from FreshBooks

Guile reads your FreshBooks clients, invoices, payments and estimates, to answer questions like who owes what and what's overdue. Money information stays in the restricted group you chose: only people in that group see it. The FreshBooks sign-in screen may say Guile could also make changes. Guile never does: it only reads.

How to connect FreshBooks

  1. In Guile, open Apps and choose FreshBooks.
  2. Under Who at your company can see this account?, choose the group that should see money information (for example Only Finance).
  3. Click Connect, then sign in to FreshBooks in the secure window from Pipedream (the service Guile uses to connect apps).
  4. Read the list on the FreshBooks screen. It may also ask to create, change or send invoices and other records. Guile never does: it only reads.
  5. Click Authorize.

If something doesn't work

  • FreshBooks won't let you add the app: only the account owner or an Admin can. Ask the owner to connect, or to make you an Admin.
  • You signed in with a client login (the one you use to pay another business's invoices): connect again with the login for your own business.
  • Today's changes aren't in Guile yet: FreshBooks reports changes by the day, so they arrive with Guile's nightly check.
  • A teammate can't see FreshBooks answers: that's by design. Only the group you chose sees the money information.
