Guile and SharePoint
PDF, Word and text files from team sites and document libraries.
What Guile reads from SharePoint
Guile reads the text of PDF, Word, plain-text, Markdown and CSV files in your sites' document libraries. Microsoft's screen says the app can also edit and delete items, and create and delete lists and libraries, in all your sites. Guile never does: it only reads.
How to connect SharePoint
- In Guile, open Apps > Add an app and choose Connect on SharePoint.
- In the Pipedream window (the service Guile uses to connect apps), sign in with your Microsoft 365 work account.
- Read Microsoft's Permissions requested screen. It names Pipedream and asks to read, edit and delete items in all your sites. Choose Accept.
- Back in Guile, learning starts on every supported file and checks again each night.
If something doesn't work
- Need admin approval: if the screen offers Request approval, add a short reason and send it; otherwise send this page to your Microsoft 365 admin. Connect again once they approve.
- For your Microsoft 365 admin (a Global Administrator, Cloud Application Administrator or Application Administrator): follow steps 1 to 3 with your admin account, tick Consent on behalf of your organization on Permissions requested, then choose Accept. To approve a request someone sent, open the Microsoft Entra admin center, Entra ID > Enterprise apps > Admin consent requests > My Pending, select the Pipedream app and Review permissions and consent.
- Guile says SharePoint read access was denied: the site search was refused. Reconnect after your admin approves.
- A site or file is missing: the connecting person cannot open it, it is a personal site, or the file is a spreadsheet, presentation, image, scanned PDF or over 2 MB.
