Files and documents
Guile and OneDrive
PDF, Word and text files from Microsoft 365 personal and shared drives.
What Guile reads from OneDrive
Guile reads the text of PDF, Word, plain-text, Markdown and CSV files. Microsoft's screen says the app can also change and delete your files. Guile never does: it only reads.
How to connect OneDrive
- In Guile, open Apps > Add an app and choose Connect on OneDrive.
- In the Pipedream window (the service Guile uses to connect apps), sign in with your Microsoft 365 work account.
- Read Microsoft's Permissions requested screen. It names Pipedream and asks to read and change your files. Choose Accept.
- Back in Guile, learning starts on every supported file and checks again each night.
If something doesn't work
- Need admin approval: if the screen offers Request approval, add a short reason and send it; otherwise send this page to your Microsoft 365 admin. Connect again once they approve.
- For your Microsoft 365 admin (a Global Administrator, Cloud Application Administrator or Application Administrator): follow steps 1 to 3 with your admin account, tick Consent on behalf of your organization on Permissions requested, then choose Accept. To approve a request someone sent, open the Microsoft Entra admin center, Entra ID > Enterprise apps > Admin consent requests > My Pending, select the Pipedream app and Review permissions and consent.
- Files shared with you are missing: Microsoft is retiring the list Guile uses to find them, and it stops returning data after November 2026.
- A file is missing: Guile skips Excel, PowerPoint, images, scanned PDFs and anything over 2 MB.
