Guile and Confluence

Pages and blog posts from Atlassian Confluence.

What Guile reads from Confluence

Guile reads the text of your pages and blog posts; attachments and comments are skipped. Atlassian's screen says the app can also create, change and delete pages and blog posts. Guile never does: it only reads.

How to connect Confluence

  1. In Guile, open Apps > Add an app and choose Connect on Confluence.
  2. In the Pipedream window (the service Guile uses to connect apps), log in to Atlassian if it asks.
  3. Under Use app on, choose your Confluence site.
  4. Read the permissions. The page names Pipedream and may say the app has not been reviewed by Atlassian. Choose Accept.
  5. Back in Guile, learning starts on every page and blog post and checks again each night.

If something doesn't work

  • Atlassian says "Your site admin must authorize this app": a site admin opens Atlassian Administration, then Apps, chooses your site under Sites, then Connected apps, and authorizes it. Then connect again.
  • Your organization blocks apps people install themselves (Block user apps): ask an admin to allow this one.
  • Guile stopped because your account sees more than 50 sites: connect with an account that belongs to fewer sites.
