Guile and Outlook Email
Recent inbox and sent conversations from your Microsoft mailbox.
What Guile reads from Outlook Email
Guile reads the last 30 days of your Inbox and Sent Items, then each night only the mail that arrived or was moved there since. It never opens attachments or drafts. Microsoft's screen says the app can also send mail as you and change your mail and contacts. Guile never does: it only reads.
How to connect Outlook Email
- In Guile, open Apps > Add an app and choose Connect on Outlook Email. To keep it to yourself, open Settings > Apps instead.
- In the Pipedream window (the service Guile uses to connect apps), sign in with your Microsoft account. Microsoft's screen names Pipedream, not Guile; that is expected.
- Read Permissions requested and choose Accept.
- Back in Guile, the mailbox starts learning from the last 30 days of Inbox and Sent Items, with newsletters and automated mail left out.
- To narrow it, choose Choose sources and pick an Outlook folder. To keep automated mail, turn on Include newsletters and automated email.
If you see Need admin approval: your company only lets admins approve apps. If the screen says Approval required, type a short reason and choose Request approval; otherwise send this page to your Microsoft 365 admin, who signs in once, ticks Consent on behalf of your organization and chooses Accept.
If something doesn't work
- Your admin approved but you still see Need admin approval: they chose Accept without ticking Consent on behalf of your organization, which approves only their own account.
- A folder is missing from the picker: only top-level folders are listed (up to 100); a folder inside another is not offered.
- A message is missing: Guile reads the last 30 days only, skips newsletters and automated mail unless you include them, and reads only the chosen folder.
